Lucero Homes - Developer's Story
It began as a desire to live a tranquil life near the interior mountain town of Boquete and turned into an ambitious plan to create something much larger.
Ten years ago, developers Raideep and Colleen Lal were attracted to the heavenly setting at the top of a mountain with the idea of creating their own homestead on it. They quickly realized that what drew them to the area is exactly what many retirees and second homeowners are searching for. They knew that the tropical surroundings, unparalleled views and year ‘round temperate climate would be the perfect canvas for a Panamanian paradise where westerners and Panamanians alike could claim their piece of heaven.
Working with a team of engineers, agronomists and environmental consultants - many of whom are from Panama City, the Lals’ vision of an exclusive Panama golf course community began to take shape.
Unfortunately in 2011, Raideep died of a massive heart attack. Colleen decided to carry on with the couple’s dream with her brother-in-law, Sandeep Lal, who is also an investor in the project. Sandeep is President of the Metro Label Group, a successful label-printing company in Canada and the United States that the Lal family has owned and operated for 40 years.
Today Lucero, which means “brightest star”, encompasses nearly 700 acres and is home to a world-class, 18-hole championship golf course, the only red clay tennis courts in the region and a spectacular array of custom-built executive homes, single-family homes, duplex villas and condominiums. Each property is enhanced by its own gorgeous view. Residents enjoy privileged membership at the Lucero Golf Course, which is easily accessed via golf cart in minutes from their homes.
The project is financially stable and free of financial encumbrances. Future plans include a hotel and spa, and new home styles are continually added to the Lucero offering giving buyers more choice and individuality for their own Panamanian oasis in the sky.
